RFID-enabled operations
Each evolution in asset management has brought greater speed, accuracy, and control to professional rental operations.
Barcodes transformed the industry and continue to play an important role. RFID introduces the opportunity to go further, identifying and verifying multiple assets at speed, improving inventory visibility, and reducing unnecessary handling.
It is not about replacing what already works. It is about applying RFID where it can deliver the next step in operational efficiency, reliability, and capacity.
RFID is powerful. Implementation is everything.
An RFID read is only data. To create value, it needs context, business logic, and the right workflow behind it: what was read, where it was read, what it means, and what should happen next.

Where it was last read
Readers are placed on each location’s floor plan. Every read leaves a breadcrumb, so you can follow an asset back through the places it was seen.

RFID where it makes sense
The right technology for the right workflow.
Barcodes remain highly effective.
Horizon starts with the workflow, not the technology. We identify where RFID can create meaningful operational value, where barcodes should remain, and where RFID can replace or enhance existing processes: wherever assets need to be identified, located, or verified quickly, at scale, and with less physical interaction.

What changes operationally
More visibility. Less friction. Greater operational capacity.
Speed and capacity
Process returns, verification and stock checks faster, increasing the capacity of the existing operation.
Inventory confidence
Better visibility of what is present, returned, missing or where expected.
Efficiency and reliability
Less repetitive identification, and faster, repeatable workflows around high-volume asset movements.
People and wellbeing
Less unpacking, lifting, moving and restacking of equipment just to identify and verify it.
RFID isn’t about scanning more assets. It’s about needing to scan less, while knowing more.
Hardware and software, one team
Built on more than 40 years of combined experience across professional rental and event operations.
We know the warehouse
Readers, antennas and tags, and how flight cases and busy loading bays affect them. We advise on tag options for your actual kit before tagging starts.
We build the bridge
The software between the reader and the business, connecting what happens in the warehouse to the rental systems people already work in.
No. Your rental system stays the system of record. Horizon works alongside it and keeps it up to date.
Do we have to replace our barcodes?
No. Barcodes remain the right tool for many workflows. We identify where RFID adds value and where barcodes should stay.
Which rental systems does it work with?
Horizon integrates with existing ERP and rental platforms. Tell us which system you use and we’ll confirm what is possible before anything is scoped.
Do we need RFID expertise in-house?
No. We design, test and deploy alongside your teams, and train them as part of onboarding. You don’t need to become an RFID expert to implement RFID.
Which tags are right for our kit?
It depends on the assets. As part of onboarding, we advise on tags based on the kit you intend to track, including on-metal and off-metal options.
Does everything need to be RFID tagged?
Absolutely not. Tagging can start where RFID adds the most value and grow from there. We work alongside you to develop the right deployment strategy, and Horizon can also tag your equipment if you prefer.
Is RFID perfect?
No technology is perfect, and RFID is no exception. Performance depends on factors such as the environment, equipment materials and tag selection. With the right approach, RFID can deliver significant operational benefits.
Will we need to change how our warehouse operates?
Yes, some adjustments will be needed, but that doesn’t mean starting from scratch. We work with your team to optimise existing workflows, reduce unnecessary manual handling and make everyday processes more efficient.
Is RFID simply plug-and-play?
Not quite. Successful implementation requires the right combination of tags, readers, integration and operational planning. Horizon brings these elements together, taking the complexity out of RFID adoption.
How long does it take to go live?
Every implementation is different. Timelines depend on factors such as system integration, hardware requirements, tagging and operational readiness. We agree on a practical rollout plan with clear milestones, allowing you to start benefiting from RFID as adoption progresses.
